Zoltán Glass and his Oversized Props

Continuing our look at Zoltán Glass’s oversized props, here are photos from the shoot, Eau Le Galion, circa mid-1950s.

The photographs feature a dramatically oversized cologne bottle with a female model — sitting atop, reclining, examining, and crouched beside it. Glass’s photos contrast the geometric bottle with the curves of her figure.

These images emerged during the 1950s when British advertising was moving toward more visually striking approaches in luxury marketing.

These photographs represent how surrealist techniques—particularly scale manipulation—found their way into commercial photography during this period.
